Chapter 10-13 you guys!!!

For todays blog I will be going over Chapters 10-13...
Chapter 10:
So basically in this chapter William, Gavin, Sir Thomas, and a bunch of other knights are on the crusade and have a good jolly old time...(just kidding about the good and jolly part...and the old part)
While on their journey to the holy land, William is assinged the job of supervising the horses while on the ship.
A little while later into the chapter Gavin tells William that he will be traveling the rest of the journey with his friends. William does not like this idea but cannot stop Gavin from doing it. Days later a huge storm hits sending ships scattered around the ocean leaving Gavin's ship stranded.
Weeks past and eventually when they dock at an island they find Gavin and the rest of his friends playing dice.
Skipping ahead a wee bit, William gets really sick. Sir Thomas gets worries and prays "If anybosy should die pointlessly of illness rather than gloriously in battle, let it be me" (114) ending the chapter oh so depressingly. But wait...theres more!

Chapter 11:
SPOLIER ALERT
Okay so really quick, William gets more sick, Gavin brings Hosana in to his room, the next morning William wakes up all better and Sir Thomas is found DEAD. They bury his body then travel to fight!
William is chosen to lead the army, because of Hosana, but when everyone starts to charge, Hosana just stays there.
We also see Kamil again and his is fighting against the Christians. He also seems to be taking a liking to the red horse we all know as Hosana. Kamil gets very close to Hosana but the Sacren forces scatter and run off. Later on we see Kamil getting lectured by Saladin because of his "bloodlust" causing people to to suffer, and that ends the Chapter.

Chapter 12:
There's really nothing that happens in this Chapter besides William recieving a letter from Ellie that says that everything is fine. So thats all that happens there haha.

Chapter 13:
And at this we are taken back to Hartslove to where we see that where Ellie is...it isn't fine. Constable de Scabious seems to be getting a little "crush" on Ellie which is very creepy seeing that he's like wicked old. He and Margery (a servant) spy on Ellie and Brother Ranulf (as he is teaching Ellie how to read and write) while during there lessons. While during lessons, Ellie and Brother Ranulf, get into more intense conversations about other things besides learning.
At the end of the chapter Brother Ranulf is accused of trying to get with Ellie even though she is supposed to get married to Gavin.

So these are the chapters, I'll probaly do another post maybe tomorrow, or even late tonight who knows..

The question this post is about Chapter 11.
Why do you think that Hosana stopped riding so William could not fight?

  1. I think Hosanna stopped riding because I think that somehow, Hosanna is connected to God, and (again) somehow God told Hosanna the Magic Pony that he did not want William to be killing the Saracens unmercifully.

  2. I think the horse wanted to protect him. Maybe it's even a little bit of foreshadowing. Maybe something bad will happen to Will the next time he fights.
