Chapters 2-5: Ooh Ponies!!

Warning: If you do not like horses, this blog IS NOT for you.
So I just read chapters 2-5 and I gotta say by the end there I was convinced that I entered the "Saddle Club"
Chapter 2 (the least pony infested chapter) just has William and Ellie coming into the dining room to have dinner with the rest of William's family. Gavin explains why he threw William into the horse trough, saying that he needed "cooling off". Yet another example of the sibling rivalry. Sir Thomas also gives William permision to look for a better horse.
Chapter 3 and 4
William goes looking for the right horse, a horse that he can beat Gavin with. William goes with Hal, a groomer, and Sir Walter, a knight that Sir Thomas uses to look after Gavin and William. William looks for a horse and finds two. A bay horse and Hosana a red horse. WhenWilliam was riding Hosana, he had a true connection with it. Even though everyone thinks that William should have gotten the bay horse because Hosana was much more difficult to ride (it threw him off at least 6 times), he gets Hosana because of that connection.
Chapter 5
Gavin and William basically have a little "brawl" on horses. William wins when Hosana nearly runs over Gavin's horse.
By the end of this chapter Gavin and William have a little heart-to-heart, with Gavin telling William to take care of things (including Ellie.. awww ;) ) when Gavin leaves to fight.
And that's basically the end. No one really has faith in Hosana besides William.
Do you think that without the connection that William felt with Hosana that this would effect the plot?
K so I'm sorry this blog is kind-of confusing...its like 11pm.

  1. I do. I think a connection to a horse has a lot to do with how they respect you and if horses don't respect the rider then they just buck them off...most of the time breaking bones. So having a special connection to a horse is vital to William especially if he wants to beat Gavin.
